Six Legs (Human + Dog ) Walking Group
This is normally on the third Saturday of the month, although any member is able to instigate a get together on our WhatsApp Group. We try to have a walk that is approx. 3 miles with a suitable place for a drink at the end. You are welcome to bring your 4 legged friend, if you wish, but its not obligatory.
The WhatsApp group will give you information on the walk, but please be prepared for different terrains and hills and dress suitably for the weather. If you wish to join us please ask to join the WhatsApp group for the details of the next walk and meeting place.

Sansom Woods
Saturday 16th March 2024
Sansom Woods was the choice for our Six Legs Walking Group's March walk.
A few of our ladies and their 4-legged companions enjoyed a walk to this picturesque spot, which the group has visited before.
Uncharacteristically there was no after walk refreshments this month - I am sure that the ladies will make up for it the next time they meet!

Colwick Country Park
Saturday 17th February 2024
Our Six Legs Walking Group had an enjoyable walk around Colwick Country Park on Saturday 17th February 2024. Taking advantage of the dry weather the ladies were able to enjoy some beautiful scenery, whilst our four legged friends found the mud and puddles !! As you can see from the photographs Spring is definitely on the way as the snow drops are poking through and the trees are starting to blossom. A pleasant walk was then rounded off with some well deserved, delicious food and drink at the Quayside Cafe.

Foxcovert Nature Reserve, Calverton
Saturday 14th October 2023
Our 6 Legs Walking Group completed a 3 mile walk around Foxcovert Nature Reserve, run by Notts Wildlife Trust on Saturday 14th October.
Also known locally as Gravelly Hollow the ladies enjoyed a walk in some fine October weather taking in the autumnal scenery. Hidden in the trees is the Polish War Memorial. Everyone was delighted to see that the decorated stone left by one of our members in November 2020 was still in situ.
As is customary the ladies then enjoyed some welcome post walk refreshments at one of the local garden centres.

Bestwood Country Park
Saturday 19th August 2023
After the disappointment of having to cancel the planned walk for July due to adverse weather, the walking group were eagerly anticipating the walk around Bestwood Country Park and they were not disappointed.
Several members of the group and their four legged friends met for the walk which was arranged and led by Caroline.
From the feedback received and the photographs, some of which are attached below, it can be seen that a good time was had by all.
In Birds of a Feather customary style the walk was followed by some delicious refreshments at the nearby Forge Mill Tea Rooms.
The Tea Rooms even serve a Puppychino, which, as you can see from the photos below, our 4 legged friends enjoyed
If you are a Birds of a Feather member and would like to join the ladies on one or more of their future walks just speak to Sarah or a member of the committee.

Colwick Country Park
Saturday 14th January 2023
The Rain Gods were kind to us, after what seemed like days of rain we were able to have a walk without getting wet. Well as long as you had waterproof footwear on.....
We saw the new Fish Pass Project (trying saying that a few times....) and even walked part of the way on the new footpath.
We then enjoyed refreshments at Quayside Cafe.

Netherfield Lagoons
Saturday 19th November 2022
Our Walking group had a lovely morning exploring Netherfield Lagoons. It is a place that is very popular with bird watchers as some of those were out with their expensive gear.
We then went to Quayside Cafe for refreshments which were great.
Remember any member can join our walking group and enjoy exploring the local area.

Blowy and Blustery...
Saturday 15th October
It was one of those fabulous autumnal days as we walked round Gedling County Park, a great improvement on our previous visit when we all ended up like drowned rats!
As always great company, great chat and good food...

Doing a "Recci"
Saturday 17th September
So two of our group went off to do a recci for a future walk and had a lovely walk to Robinhood Hill in Oxton. Althpugh it was windy at the top they even managed to spot a couple of buzzards. They finished off with coffee at Patchings courtyard in the sun.
Some other of our ladies had a lovely time at the Collingham show. The weather was good and company great.
They walked about drank coffee, ate cakes and fudge and oh yes sampled some gin, rum and vodka!
However, the star of the day is our very own Brogan who came 4th in the Collingham show most handsome dog.

February calling....
Saturday 19th February
Who's said its all about the walk...
So it was windy and at times the rain was horizontal but a group of hardy souls braved the weather and walked around Gedling Country Park. Could we have picked a more exposed location! Perhaps, but we were conscious that after all that rain and more wind in the forecast we didnt want a muddy walk in woodlands!
But hey the time spent at The Dumbles Cafe in Floralands Garden Centre made up for it.

Blowing away the cobwebs...
Monday 27th of December
So our December walk evolved into a blast of fresh air and a walk by the river and all aroung the Burton Joyce area.
Somehow we managed to spend longer in the pub enjoying refreshments than we did walking, but hey we still did a 4 mile walk.
We also agreed that from niw on our walks will be the Saturday after our meeting, although anyone is welcome to arrange a walk at any time via our WhatsApp group.

A Fitting Memorial...
Saturday 13th November
A small group of us set off from Gravelly hollow in Calverton and walked roughly 3.5 miles.
We ended up at the Fairey Battle memorial for the 3 Polish airmen who lost their lives. Brogan and Enzo are obviously new "besties" and we can see a fine "bromance" in the future.
Nina kindly painted stones for us all which we took home, we also placed one on the memorial from BOAF WI, the remaining stones, Nina placed on the walk back..part of Notts Rocks. There was also the fungi growing right next to the memorial which looked just like a poppy. Followed by a drink and eats and chats at Patchings.

How many legs....
There were 30 in total, 7 humans and 4 dogs......
On our second time of trying we had a lovely walk around Samson's Woods, who knew an archery group met in the woods, and you could see the targets. Our four legged companions enjoyed the woods and sniffing out new surroundings.
We then adjorned to the cafe in the woods at Blidworth for the obligatory chat.

Off we go Again...
Saturday 18th September
On our latest walk, 5 members of 6 legs walking group plus Brogan and Enzo met at Sansom Woods.
We had lovely weather and what an adventure! Brogan decided he wanted to walk by himself so off he went, which gave us all a worry, however thanks to great team work of other dog walkers, in the woods, Brogan was found safely waiting at the car for our return.
We then made our way to Blidworth Bottoms for even more giggles, nattering and a hot drink. Thank you Trish for organising the walk.
Next walk will take place on 16 October at 10:30 - Sansom Woods. Followed by a hot drink and eats at Blidworth Bottoms.
