Jerry Green Dog Rescue - Final donations delivered
March 2024
Each year Birds of a Feather selects a local charity to support and for April 2023 to March 2024 it has been the Jerry Green Dog Rescue Centre. Our members have been extremely generous with their donations and all the items delivered to the centre have been gratefully received. Sadly this year's collaboration has come to an end and we have delivered our last donation package to them.
They do exceptional work with the dogs and the staff and the dogs have always been pleased to see our members when we have delivered packages to them. Our members were equally pleased to see our four legged friends and meet the wonderful people who look after them.,
We send the centre our very best wishes for the future. Keep up the excellent work.

Jerry Green Dog Rescue - February 2024 Update
Our members continue to show their support for our nominated charity and we were able to deliver another selection of goodies this month, which were very gratefully received.
Unfortunately, no dogs were available for the photocall this time but as you can see there was a great selection of gifts
Thank you to all Birds of a Feather WI members who support this worthy cause. Your gifts are much appreciated.
Jerry Green Dog Rescue - November Update
The latest donations from our generous members have been delivered to the Jerry Green Rescue Centre. Pictured here is a member of the staff receiving all of the items.
Last month we put a call out for additional tubes of Primula cheese, which the centre use in a variety of ways and, we are reliably informed, the dogs love it !
Thank you to everyone, please keep your donations coming - they really do make a difference.

Jerry Green Dog Rescue - October Update
Following our group meeting on Monday 16th October, the donations for the Jerry Green Dog Rescue Centre have now been delivered.
Once again our members have been extremely generous and a fantastic assortment of doggie products were donated. Whilst all donations are gratefully received the staff have advised us that the lickimat which was donated is particularly useful. Apparently they are fabulous for anxiety especially when smothered in plain Primula cheese!
If you have a spare lickimat then please consider donating it to the centre. Whilst talking about Primula cheese we have been advised that it is particularly useful in coating medication. As this is a particularly useful product we would like to donate more of this - so if you want to donate something please consider Primula Cheese. Just the plain variety though - not the flavoured options.
Also remember if you've treated yourself to a new duvet for the coming winter months - don't dispose of the old one - the centre really likes these for the dogs and can always use them.
Many of you will recognise Brogan in the photograph this month. He is photographed with a member of the Jerry Green Staff. Trish has asked that I reassure you all that Brogan is fine. Having charged into a metal post he cut his ear and cheek. He's wearing the lampshade because he keeps scratching at it and opening it up again. But truly he is fine.

For 2021 we are adopting Juno Annimal charity;-
This is charity that supports women that need to find a place of safety for themselves and often their children. Normally this means thay have to leave loved family pets (of all sorts) behind. This charity looks after them until the women are in situations where they can take them back.
They are looking for such things as;- Pet food, people to actually foster pets, pet toys ... more information to follow.

In our first two years we adopted the following local charities;-
- a local care home has been approached and they would be happy to have any twiddle muffs/mats we make for them.
- Arnold Food Bank, donations will be taken at the every meeting and taken to the food bank.

Twiddle Muffs
They are a double-thick knitted muff with items attached so that a patient with dementia can twiddle with them in their hands. It might sound funny, but they can actually be a godsend for anxious patients, helping to quieten their mind and provide comfort and distraction.
People with dementia can often have restless hands, so these can really help. |
